Current Board Members


Kathy Zhang 300Kathy Zhang – President
Kathy Zhang currently leads operations, programming, and strategic growth as the Associate Director at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism, a research center at Columbia University focused on emerging technology in media. Previously, she managed communications and youth engagement at the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a policy advisory group to the United Nations. Kathy is also a researcher at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development, where she founded “Mobility Futures,” an initiative examining how to leverage new transportation technologies (including connected, automated, shared, and electric mobility options) and policies toward a more sustainable and equitable transportation system. She was the founding director of the Sustainability Media Lab, a Columbia initiative working to make sustainable development more accessible, relevant, and compelling across all media. Kathy holds a Master of International Affairs with a focus on Urban & Tech Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development, both from Columbia University. She served as the co-president of the Technology and Innovation Student Association at the School of International and Public Affairs, and currently serves as the president of Columbia’s Undergraduate Sustainable Development Alumni Board.

Ryan ElivoRyan Elivo- Vice President
Ryan Elivo holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Sustainable Development from Columbia University. As a student, Ryan was Editor-in-Chief of Consilience: The Journal of Sustainable Development, Director of Campus Outreach of the Sustainability Media Lab, Student Organizer of Columbia Divest for Climate Justice, and Director of Academic Affairs of the Student Union for Sustainable Development. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development from Columbia University.

Rose Winer graduated from Columbia in the Spring of 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Sustainable Development. While at Columbia she edited for the student journal Consilience, studied environmental policy at the University of Cape Town, and helped develop eco-conscious initiatives on campus–including the first annual CU Earth Month celebration–as a committee leader in EcoReps. Since graduating, Rose has worked on the Corporate Citizenship Environment & Conservation team at The Walt Disney Company as a Special Projects Coordinator. She manages initiatives that engage Disney employees on sustainability issues and educate them about actions they can take to reduce their environmental impact. Outside of her work at Disney, Rose is a staff writer for the online food magazine Zester Daily. Rose lives and works in Los Angeles.
