Current Board Members
SUMA Board members are elected for 2-year terms. The current board will serve until December 31, 2018. The next election will be held in Fall 2018.

Mark Buczek, member of the original SUMA class, is currently Director – Northwest Green Chemistry.  After a career in various senior management roles with large corporate entities, Mark now works at the intersection of industry, government, academia and NGO’s in developing and promoting tools for safer chemicals.  He has played a key role in eliminating toxic flame retardants from areas of human exposure and in the development of chemical alternatives screening analysis now adopted by EPA, Nike, HP, USGBC and others.

sophiaSophia Huda – V.P. Communications

Sophia Huda, SUMA graduate October 2016, works as a Market Development Specialist with a large plastics recycling company.  Her interests and expertise lie in waste management, recycling, and chemical safety.

 

olgaOlga Joseph – V.P. Development

Olga Joseph is a 2016 SUMA graduate. The former broadcast meteorologist now works as a science communication and outreach manager for a non-profit dedicated to recruiting, educating and training undergraduate and graduate students for research careers in STEM.

Yon Lam – V.P. External Affairs

Yon Lam, SUMA graduate May 2014, works as the Network and Office Coordinator at Broadscale Group. While interested in many facets of sustainability, her professional aspirations are to bring viable technology solutions to mainstream success.

 

Amanda Stevens – Board Member

Amanda Stevens is a recent graduate who specializes in stakeholder engagement and sustainable behavior change. She currently works to develop corporate sustainability training content for Sustrana, a sustainability management online platform. Amanda joined the Sustainability Management program in 2015. During her time in the program, she served on the 2016-2017 SUMASA Board as Co-VP of Communications and was a 2016 EDF Climate Corps Fellow.

 

Keith Wong – Board Member

Keith is currently a consultant at PVH with their Corporate Responsibility Team. He has been analyzing the human rights assessment activity of the factories where PVH sources from and he has analyzed the company’s environmental indicators including energy usage, GHG emissions, solid waste and water usage. Keith is also an adjunct lecturer at Bronx Community College, where he teaches a class in Sustainability, Energy, and Green Economics to undergraduates. In addition, Keith does freelance sustainability consulting.  Keith is a native New Yorker and enjoys traveling, skiing and camping.
